Why Mentors Accelerate Learning
(and Tutors Don't)
Tutors help with homework. Mentors help kids thrive. Studies show students with mentors gain up to 3 months of additional academic growth per year, with stronger engagement, confidence, and attendance than their peers.

Not Just Any Mentor — Only the Best
Only 7% of applicants become Nao Now mentors. Our mentors pass a 5-step process: background checks, recorded demo reviews, trial lessons, training, and continuous class monitoring. Each mentor is trained to teach fun, real-world English — from phonics to advanced conversation — and make every child feel seen, heard, and excited to learn.
Step 1: Resume & Education Check
We select only experienced, qualified applicants. Our top mentors are from American universities and have degrees in education, English, or child development.
Step 2: Recorded Demo Review
Each candidate submits a demo teaching session, which we review for communication skills, lesson clarity, classroom energy, and the ability to teach elementary English with both fun and structure.
Step 3: Live Interview & Trial Lesson
Candidates complete a live interview and trial lesson. We assess communication, values alignment, and teaching ability, including engagement, pacing, and personalization for young learners.
Step 4: Mentor Training Program
New mentors complete structured onboarding that covers our game-based curriculum, online classroom tools, and best practices for teaching foundational English to young learners.
Step 5: Ongoing Class Monitoring
After they begin teaching, mentors receive regular feedback and support from our quality team. We track mentor performance across attendance, parent reviews, and student progress.
Step 6: Professional Development
Mentors grow through ongoing training and collaborative workshops at Nao Now. These sessions help them stay sharp, inspired, and aligned with our high teaching standards.

What Parents Say
About Our Mentors
The first day we met Teacher Edwin... I was listening from outside, and it sounded like Justin had a motor in his mouth — he didn’t stop talking for a whole hour! He really should listen to the teacher too, haha. Each week, the lessons are guided so well around topics Justin loves — snakes, the Amazon, animal camouflage, and more. What impressed me even more was the thoughtful feedback email from the teacher.
Even when saying goodbye to the teacher, you can see how excited he is — just look at him waving his hand so energetically! After consistently doing Nao Now’s elementary-level video English lessons for three months, it’s clear that his fear of English has completely transformed into fun and excitement!
The native English-speaking teacher we met through the trial lesson was incredibly bright and full of energy. My child is already extremely extroverted, but the teacher was even more outgoing! Maybe that’s why they spent the entire 25 minutes laughing and chatting non-stop.
Confidence That Goes
Beyond the Classroom
Mentorship doesn't just help with today's grammar lesson.
It changes how kids see themselves. With support from a Nao Now
mentor, students speak more confidently, take more risks, and
discover that English isn't scary — it's exciting.
